Spanish ceramic tile exports reached 317.45 million euros in June, up 5.5% year on year, with France and Israel growing strongly and the United States reclaiming the top monthly spot. Despite the rebound, first-half exports remain down 6.2%.
Spanish ceramic tile exports regained momentum in June. According to industry figures, foreign sales reached 317.45 million euros, a 5.5% increase compared with the same month last year, breaking a difficult run for manufacturers in the Castellon cluster.
Market performance explains much of the rebound. France, one of the traditional destinations for Spanish tile, grew by around 14%, while Israel surged close to 41%, becoming one of the most dynamic markets of the period. The United States returned to the top of the monthly ranking with a 3.4% advance, a notable result in a context shaped by tariff uncertainty.
The June figure, however, is not enough to correct the trajectory of the year as a whole. In the first half, exports remain in negative territory, down 6.2% against the same period last year. The comparison reflects the accumulated strain of energy costs, weak construction activity in several European markets and growing competition from Asian product.
The contraction in the Gulf region has been particularly severe. Markets that for years acted as a growth engine for Spanish tile, such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, are posting double-digit declines, squeezed by local production and by the arrival of supply from India and China at far lower prices.
The industry reads the June data as a sign of stabilisation rather than a turning point. The recovery in the United States and the solid performance of France and Israel bring relief to company accounts, but manufacturers remain cautious about a second half in which gas costs, US trade policy and European demand will continue to weigh.
