The certification proves that zero-carbon firing technology is now a reproducible commercial reality. The international tile sector has just shifted gears, forcing the Spanish cluster to accelerate its innovation alliances if it wants to maintain its historic leadership in added value and process technology.
While Europe —including the Castellón cluster— has focused its decarbonization strategy on green hydrogen and biofuels as partial substitutes for natural gas, China has fully committed to the direct transformation of the thermal process through ammonia and hydrogen combustion, tackling technical challenges of flame stability and NOx control.
The implication for European exporters is direct: with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in force, an industrial line certified as zero carbon changes the global competitive rules.
