Tile of Spain turns Milan icons into ceramic souvenirs at Design Week 2026

At Fuorisalone 2026, Tile of Spain unveils "Spanish Design as a Souvenir", an exhibition of 11 sculptural objects clad in Spanish ceramics that reinterpret Milanese landmarks through Iberian craft.

Tile of Spain is bringing one of the most playful installations of Milan Design Week 2026 to Fuorisalone, where eleven sculptural objects clad in Spanish ceramic tile reinterpret some of Milan's most recognisable icons as oversized souvenirs. Curated under the title "Spanish Design as a Souvenir" , the exhibition turns the classic tourist trinket into a manifesto of contemporary craft. Each piece pairs a leading Spanish ceramic manufacturer with a designer or studio, who together translate landmarks such as the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele or the trams of Milan into ceramic-clad sculptures. Among the highlights are La Milán 430 , a tribute to the city's historic tramway, Las Castañuelas , a Spanish-Italian dialogue in glazed surfaces, and El Beso , a sensual nod to Milanese romance rendered in tile. Other works reinterpret typically Italian objects — espresso cups, Vespa silhouettes, panettone — through the language of Spanish ceramic tradition. The show puts the spotlight on the technical and aesthetic versatility of Spanish tile: from large-format porcelain slabs to handmade glazed pieces, every object becomes a showcase of what the industry can do beyond the floor and the wall. For Tile of Spain, the installation is also a strategic gesture. Milan Design Week remains the world's most influential design platform, and showing up with a narrative that mixes humour, craft and architecture helps reposition Spanish ceramics as a creative material — not just a building product — in front of an international audience of architects, specifiers and press. "Spanish Design as a Souvenir" can be visited during Fuorisalone 2026 and confirms ceramics as one of the most expressive materials of this edition of Milan Design Week.
